MEMBERS CODE OF CONDUCT

All volunteers, football and spirit participants will abide by a Code of Conduct which
includes the following provisions. If any of these rules are broken, the League shall
have the authority to impose a penalty.

Members shall:
  1. Not smoke and/or use smokeless tobacco on the field.
  2. Not criticize players/spirit participants in front of spectators, but reserve constructive criticism for later,
    in private, or in the presence of team/squad members if others might benefit.
  3. Accept decisions of the game officials and judges on the field and in competitions as being fair and
    called to the best ability of said officials.
  4. Not criticize an opposing team, it’s players, spirit participants, coaches, or fans by word of mouth
    or by gesture.
  5. Emphasize that good athletes strive to be good students and that both are physically and mentallyalert.
  6. Strive to make every football and spirit activity serve as a training ground for life, and a basis for good mental and physical health.
  7. Emphasize that winning is the result of good “Teamwork.”
  8. Not engage in excessive sideline coaching and shall not leave the bench area to shout instructions
    from the sidelines.
  9. Together with team officials, be jointly responsible for the conduct and control of team fans and spectators. Any fan who becomes a nuisance and out of control will be asked to leave.
  10. Not use abusive or profane language at any time.
  11. Not “Pile it on;” not encourage their team to get a commanding raise the score as high as it can.
    In these instances, every effort shall be made to let all players play.
  12. Not receive any payment, in cash or kind, for services as a coach in Pop Warner Football/Spirit.
    This includes any coach, expert, consultant or choreographer, regardless of his/her roster status.
  13. Not permit or encourage “Sweating down” tactics in order for a player to make the team weight.
  14. Not recommend or distribute any medication, controlled or over the counter, except as specifically prescribed by participant’s physician.
  15. Not permit an ineligible player or spirit participant to participate in a game.
  16. Not deliberately incite unsportsmanlike conduct.
  17. Abstain from the possession and drinking of alcoholic beverages and the possession or use of any
    illegal substance on both the game and practice fields.
  18. Remove from a game or practice any participant when even slightly in doubt about his/her health,
    whether or not as a result of injury, until competent medical advice is available.
  19. Control their fans. Remember, as a team coach, you’re responsible for your team, and fan reaction will usually be in step with your reaction.
  20. Uphold all rules and regulations, National, Regional & Local, regarding Pop Warner Football,
    Cheerleading and Dance.
  21. Refrain from engaging in any action which reflects negatively, or causes embarrassment to the
    Pop Warner Program.

PARENTS CODE OF ETHICS

I hereby pledge to provide positive support, care and encouragement for my child who is
participating in the Sandwich Youth Football / Spirit Program by following this Code of Ethics:

  1. I will encourage good sportsmanship by demonstrating positive support for all players, coaches, and officials including referees, at every game, practice, or other Sandwich Youth Football / Spirit event.
  2. I will place the physical and emotional well-being of my child ahead of my personal desire to win.
  3. I will support all coaches, league officials and referees working with my child, in order to encourage a positive and enjoyable experience for all.
  4. I will expect an environment for my child that is free of drugs, tobacco, and alcohol, and will refrain from their use at all Football / Spirit games and practices.
  5. I will do my very best to make the Football / Spirit season fun for my child.
  6. I will ask my child to treat other players, coaches, spectators, league officials and referees with respect regardless of ability.
  7. I promise to help my child enjoy the Football / Spirit experience by being a respectable fan. I will not yell or scream at coaches, players, other spectators or referees. I will support my child by offering positive words of encouragement only.
  8. I will help the team coach by being on time for practices and games and I will pick up my child on time at the end of practices and games. If I am unable to attend any games or practices I will let my child’s coach know in a reasonable and timely fashion. I will never leave my child alone at a game or practice without informing my coach.
  9. I will be respectful of the playing field and follow all rules and regulations, including parking restrictions related to the fields/indoor facilities at any school or location that we play. I will help maintain a safe and clean playing environment by removing any dangerous items or objects that I see and by cleaning up after games and practices.
  10. I will remember that the game is for the children and not the adults.
  11. I realize that should I fail to adhere to this Code of Ethics that Sandwich Youth Football, Inc. may apply any sanctions, penalties or suspensions necessary. In the event of a serious breach, I or my child could face removal as a spectator or player from Sandwich Youth Football.

MANDATORY PARENTAL PARTICIPATION

Registration and participation in the Sandwich Pop Warner Program will involve a time
commitment from each child’s parent or guardian.

Commitments include various activities throughout the season, which runs from January to December. Activities include, but are not exclusive to; working the concession stand, holding yardage line markers, running the scoreboard, announcing games, chaperoning dances, promoting fundraisers, field maintenance, and/or being a team parent.

Each parent or guardian will be expected to chose and participate in at least two Sandwich Pop Warner activities per player during the season. For example, if you have three children in the program, you will be expected to participate in at least six total activities during the season.

Failure to sign this Mandatory Parental Participation form at registration will nullify all other registration forms, and will not allow your child to participate in the program.

The Sandwich Pop Warner Executive Board holds the right to call any parent/guardian to an Executive Board meeting at any time during the season to explain why they have not fulfilled their obligation regarding the Mandatory Parental Participation. The executive board also reserves the right to temporarily suspend or terminate any player/spirit whose parent or guardian refuses to attend an executive board meeting or to meet their Mandatory Parental Participation obligation during the season.
